Multilingual Tips

I’ve came to a small problem while editing my post of ‘Appulous Troll Answers’. Wish you won’t have the same problem.

First I’d added the English post few days ago, then the Chinese post today. Due to the default language of my site is Chinese, there’s no ‘Add Translation’ option on the English post edit page, only the message ‘This is a translation of xx’ of which you may appoint this post to a specific Chinese post. I wrote the Chinese standalone post and  wanted to appoint the English one to this one.

But the result sucks. There are a bunch of Chinese posts but none of them is the one I’ve just written. It seems the plugin randomly selects some posts but there is not enough space to show them all, another reason is there’s no such function that query all your posts. To make my translation corresponded, I have to delete the written one and re-write another formal ‘Translation’. This is odd.

My tip, is to remind all friends using the Multilingual Plugin, to write a post in their default language first, then the translation post using ‘add a translation’ function. Do NOT write posts in different languages and hope to link them together (at least before the plugin writer fixs this).

P.S. Question: my default language is Simplified Chinese, but everything but the plugin at admin panel shows in English. Anyone know why?
